The Role
The role of the Senior Project Controller is to support the Regional Finance Manager – Capital Projects - Asia in building a finance function capable of instilling financial integrity into the delivery of major capital projects in Asia. The stakeholders are vast and the deliverables challenging therefore the role requires a proactive individual with a versatile skillset willing to embody the values of Albemarle.
Key Responsibilities
Project Finance
? Assist capital project team with the cashflow/AP forecasting and various project financial controlling topics;
? Review the value of work done (VOWD) file, reconciling the cost inception-to-date with the data extracted from SAP. Review the month end cost accrual, challenge project controls on any issues identified;
? Reclassify project related cost center expenses to the project in accordance with the Group’s capitalization policy;
? Coordinate with global capital finance management team with activity rate calculation, performance reporting for different sites and entities across China;
? Support with the appropriate capitalization of assets once placed in service and ensure change orders are completed as required.
? Collaborate with the broader project team, assisting in any manner that could be beneficial (prepare financial models, tax, and accounting advice etc.) ;
? Maintain a reconciliation of the foreign exchange difference between VOWD and SAP, if any.
Operational Finance
? Manage the monthly end closing process, including but not limited to project cost accruals, provisions calculations and tax effect calculation;
? Partner with Dalian and Budapest share service centers for monthly inter-company billing process for purpose of accurate cost allocation to relevant entities;
? Collaborate across the project management, engineering, human resources, purchasing, legal, corporate finance and public relations functional areas within the project as well as the 3rd party management teams.
? Co-ordinate with local finance, tax, PT, treasury and RTR, RTP team on domestic tax compliance, including withholding tax filing and payment, CIT, VAT, transfer pricing compliance;
? Support site manager in managing operation readiness cost center
? Coordinate with any internal/external audit requirements and needs by providing supporting documentation and data deck;
? Assist capital project management team in developing monthly performance KPI variance report against AOP target by analyzing monthly financial results and G/L journal entry details, identify trends and follow up actions as required;
? Maintain an open mind, an inquisitive nature and be ready to assist the Regional Finance Manager- Capital Projects – Asia with any tasks that could be required of the finance team.
Work Experience Requirements
? Track record of success in partnering with business leaders, demonstrating global collaboration across cultures and meeting/exceeding expectations working in a fast-paced environment
? Highest standards of accuracy, precision, organization and attention to detail
? Breadth and capacity to take on other finance roles over time
? Computer skills: Some familiarity with asset creation and depreciation within an advanced ERP system required. SAP knowledge preferred
? Familiar with both US and local GAAP
? Must be self-motivated. Must be able to work as part of a team that includes multiple functional areas across the globe. Experience in identifying process flows and optimization.
Education / Qualification Requirements
? Minimum of 10 years’ experience with financial Analysis, reconciliations, and general ledger accounting in a manufacturing company
? Minimum of 3 years’ experience with Capital Projects and Project Accounting, especially fixed assets management
? Strong demonstrated management abilities
? Experience with ERP systems at a multinational company
? Good written and verbal communications skills
? Bandwidth to conduct reviews with project management and third parties in a clear and concise method
? Fluency in English required
? CPA, CMA or similar certification a plus.
? Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration is required, master degree a plus.
